Precautionary Boil Water Order Finished

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that the precautionary boil water order for Iqaluit has been lifted by the Chief Public Health Officer.

Public Works received the results from the most recent testing on May 12th, and forwarded the results to the Chief Public Health Officer. Iqaluit’s water delivery system passed all the tests, and the order was repealed.

The City of Iqaluit wishes to inform residents that the precautionary boil water advisory for all of Iqaluit –both piped and trucked water services- remains in place.

All water tests have been sent to a Southern lab for analysis. When that process is complete, we will follow the recommendation of the Chief Public Health Officer, based on the results of the testing.

Water Treatment Plant Return to Service – April 25

 

The City of Iqaluit Water Treatment Plant will be returning to service the morning of Tuesday, April 25. Starting at 8 am on April 25, all City of Iqaluit water customers are under a precautionary boil water order. This applies to both trucked and piped water customers.

Due to the high volume of water testing to be conducted, this precautionary boil water advisory could last as long as a week.

The brief water interruption on 100’s 200’s and 300’s has now been resolved.

The 100’s 200’s and 300’s remain under a precautionary boil water advisory.

During a precautionary boil water advisory, the City recommends that all water for consumption is brought to a rolling boil for a minimum of one full minute.

It is recommended that all water be boiled for the following uses:

Location of water interruption: 100’s, 200’s and 300’s
