Water Shut Down and Boil Water Advisory – All of Iqaluit

Please be advised of a water shut down for all of Iqaluit on Wednesday, September 01, 2021 from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to allow for the replacement of key valves to our water infrastructure. This work will ensure that valves are functioning as intended which will allow staff to better isolate sections of pipe during water shut downs for future repairs.

Location of water interruption: All of Iqaluit (those on trucked water will not receive water delivery during this shutdown)
The City of Iqaluit is issuing a boil water advisory for all residents, with the exception to those who are on trucked water services.

The City recommends that all water used for consumption and dental hygiene is brought to a rolling boil for a minimum of one full minute. Water can boiled in a pot over the stove, allowed to cool and stored in a covered container or refrigerated for later use. It is also recommended that residents secure water ahead of time to avoid any major inconveniences during the period of the shutdown.

The City of Iqaluit will release a Public Service Announcement when the boil water advisory is lifted.
