Road Closure –Painting of Pride Crosswalk at Joamie School and Aqsarniit Middle School
June 9, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that Abe Okpik Road (adjacent to Aqsarniit Middle School – see map below) and Niaqunngusiariaq Drive (adjacent to Joamie School – see map below) will be closed to all traffic on Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

This closure is to allow for the painting of two crosswalks:

• Joamie School crosswalk crossing Niaqunngusiariaq Drive
• Aqsarniit Middle School crosswalk crossing Abe Okpik Road

These crosswalk paintings are in accordance with Motions #22-172 and #22-173, which were unanimously passed by the Iqaluit City Council on May 24, 2022.

The below map outlines areas impacted by the road closure.
