Job in Focus – Interpreter-Translator

The City of Iqaluit would like to highlight an exciting opportunity for a qualified individual. We are currently accepting applications for the position of Interpreter/Translator.

The Interpreter/Translator plays a vital role in strengthening communication within our municipal government. This position provides interpretation between English and the South Baffin Dialect of Inuktitut during council and committee meetings and translates important municipal documents such as meeting minutes and correspondence.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Fluency in English and the South Baffin Dialect of Inuktitut
  • Excellent communication and interpretation skills
  • Cultural awareness and the ability to work in dynamic, public-facing settings
