Infrastructure Upgrade and Temporary Road Closures on Federal Road
October 22, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents about an upcoming infrastructure upgrade involving drainage improvements along the north side of Federal Road. This essential work will help improve drainage and stabilize the surrounding environment.

Temporary road closures will begin on October 26, 2024, and the project is expected to be completed by October 30, 2024.

During the temporary road closure, the intersection of Sivumugiaq Street and Qaqqamiut Road will be closed to all traffic. A traffic map is included below.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we work to improve our community's infrastructure. Detours will be clearly marked, and access to properties will be maintained whenever possible. Emergency vehicles will have priority access throughout the construction period.

For your safety and the safety of workers, please follow posted detour signs and avoid construction zones. We also ask that drivers reduce their speed and exercise caution in the area.
