Facilities Worker
The City of Iqaluit Recreation Department is looking to build a strong qualified candidate pool to fill future vacancies. Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, the incumbent must be able to work with minimal supervision and provide leadership to part-time employees. They will carry out a variety of duties associated with the operation of recreation facilities including ice installation and maintenance, building and equipment maintenance, snow removal, janitorial duties, playground inspections and maintenance and record keeping. The incumbent must be able to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends.
Qualification, Skill and Experience
- Class 5 Drivers License
- Minimum of Grade 10 Education
- Fall Arrest Training
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Ability to perform physical work duties (lifting, climbing, the use of lifts, shoveling)
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others
- Good math skills for cash handling
- Good verbal and written communications skills
- Must have at least two years of work experience in recreational facilities work, a trade, construction, labour, maintenance or equivalent
- Must have the ability to operate a zamboni (training provided)
- Must be willing and capable of completing training applicable to the job
Equivalencies that include a combination of education, knowledge, skills and abilities to formal education may be considered.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate must successfully pass a criminal reference check.
Starting salary is $50,966.17 per annum plus Settlement/Housing Allowance of $20,907.43 per annum and an excellent benefits package.
