Reporting to the Guest Services Supervisor, the Guest Services Associate is the first point of contact for customers. The Guest Services Associate acts as a general receptionist, performing a variety of clerical duties for the Recreation Department. Responsibilities include providing the public with information on recreational opportunities and activities, processing recreation facility bookings, and program and membership registrations and payments. The Guest Services Associate also assists with fundraising, events and other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have a general understanding of the Recreation Department operations and be familiar with the City’s recreation programs and services to answer customer inquiries.
This position requires the availability and dependability to work days, evenings and weekends, including holidays.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent
-
Customer service experience
-
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff both verbally and in writing

Experience with scheduling and taking bookings

Confident using computers and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Proficient typing skills

Standard First Aid and CPR – C

Self-motivated with strong organizational skills

Must have demonstrated good attendance and punctuality
Assets include holding Bronze Medallion certification and the ability to speak and write in Inuktitut and/or French. Equivalencies that include a combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate would be required to submit a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check, as well as a TB test.
