Aquatics Program Supervisor
Reporting to the Aquatics Program Manager, the Aquatics Program Supervisor is responsible for implementing recreational and instructional aquatics programs to meet the needs of the community. They will be responsible for lesson schedules, registration, staff scheduling, training and development of instructors and lifeguards. They will perform lifeguarding duties and instruct swimming lessons. They must understand and embody the core competencies of the Recreation Department and have advanced communication skills. They must also possess the ability to listen effectively to concerns and complaints, in order to provide high quality conflict resolution with guests, staff and the general public.

National Lifeguard Service Award

Lifesaving Society Examiner for the Bronze levels
-
Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor
-
Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Trainer
-
First Aid and CPR Level C
-
WHMIS
-
Nunavut Class 5 Drivers License
Preferred Education, Skills and Knowledge:
-
High School Diploma or equivalent
-
A minimum of two years of directly related experience in a supervisory role
-
General knowledge of pool operations
-
A minimum of 2 years as an instructor and lifeguard (NLS level)
-
Experience planning courses (bronze and higher)
-
Knowledge and experience in working as part of a team
-
Excellent people skills
-
Must be able to maintain the required certifications
The following are considered assets: National Lifeguard Instructor and Examiner, Pool
Operations Level 1, First Aid and CPR Instructor, Lifesaving mentor, AST Instructor
(Lifesaving Aquatic Supervisor Training), LSS Aquatic Facility Inspector, High Five (PCD),
Quest Evaluator, Aquafit certification (CALA, Canfit, waterart), NCCP coaching Level 1,
and experience working with a recreation management system.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check and TB Test.
The annual salary for this position is $58,807.11. The City of Iqaluit also provides an excellent benefit package and an annual Settlement Allowance of $20,907.43.
