The City would like to remind residents that the River Water Depot will be closing today, at 8:00PM.
The multi-tank bypass of the Water Treatment Plant has been implemented, and a precautionary Boil Water Advisory remains in effect at this time for residents on both piped and trucked services.
It is essential that all water be boiled for the following uses:

Residents are reminded that the multi-tank bypass is in now in operation at the Water Treatment Plant. The bypass was turned on the evening of January 19. The bypass carries water from Lake Geraldine that is then strained, disinfected and distributed through the system to homes on both trucked and piped services. This water bypasses all concrete tanks in the Water Treatment Plant, and is being continually tested for hydrocarbons.

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that effective January 11, 2022 the Responsible Pet Ownership By-law No.796 was replaced with the Domestic Animal Control By-law No.924.
Notable changes include animal licensing at no charge, with the exception of any dog designated as Vicious.

Multi-Tank Bypass Put In Operation

The City of Iqaluit together with the Department of Health would like to advise residents of Iqaluit that as of 4:00 PM on January 19, 2022, the City will be putting the multi-tank bypass into operation. As a result, residents are advised to boil all water prior to consumption, cooking and brushing their teeth.

Iqaluit Emergency Services Responds to Structure Fire
On Sunday, January 16, 2022 at approximately 4:30PM, Iqaluit Emergency Services responded to a call regarding a kitchen fire in an apartment building in the 900 neighborhood.
Firefighters arrived and quickly located the fire and extinguished it ensuring no spread to neighboring units. A functioning fire alarm and sprinkler system in the building prevented this fire from escalating while providing the occupants, and their neighbours, enough to time safely evacuate the building.
