Sanitation Services Foreman
The City of Iqaluit is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Sanitation Services Foreman. Reporting to the Superintendent of Sanitation Operations, the employee is responsible for the supervision of daily operation and co-ordination of municipal garbage collection, as well as, the operation of one of the service vehicles during each shift.
Main duties involve supervising municipal services staff, dispatching, inspections, identifying operational deficiencies of all vehicles, submit, plan and schedule vehicle maintenance work, monitoring collection routes, ensuring equipment and vehicles are kept clean, safe and secure. Proving recommendations for changes in collection services, establishing work schedules, assisting in the ongoing training of staff, performing job appraisals and advising superintendent of employee performance. Other duties involve investigating and resolving complaints regarding services, conducting Health and Safety meetings, compiling lists of required materials and supplies for sealift, assisting superintendent with work plans and budgets and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:

Grade 10
-
Heavy Equipment Operator’s Certificate
-
Class 3 License with Air Brake Endorsement

Minimum 5 years’ experience in operating and maintaining heavy equipment

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role

Confident with computers and MS Office software

Great verbal and written communication skills

Ability to speak Inuktitut is a definite asset

The annual salary for this position is $71,424.47, plus an annual Settlement Allowance of $20,907.43. The City of Iqaluit also provides an excellent benefit package.
