Road Closure – Queen Elizabeth Way for Nunavut Day
July 7, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a planned road closure next to Nakasuk School for Nunavut Day events on Thursday, July 9, 2026. This closure is necessary to accommodate pedestrians and help ensure everyone can enjoy the area safely.
Queen Elizabeth Way will be closed from Sinaa Street to the entrance of the Nakasuk School parking lot between 8:00AM and 5:00PM. A map highlighting the road closure is included below.
Residents, drivers, and pedestrians are asked to use caution in the area, follow posted signage, and allow extra time when travelling. Short delays can be expected.
Nunavut Day is an opportunity to celebrate the strength, culture, history, and future of Nunavut. As Nunavut’s capital city, Iqaluit is proud to support a safe and welcoming environment for residents, families, and visitors gathering in recognition of this important day.
The City of Iqaluit appreciates residents’ understanding and cooperation. We encourage everyone to celebrate safely and respectfully.
