Road Closure – Queen Elizabeth Way for Canada Day Celebrations

June 29, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that a road closure will be in effect on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, following the Canada Day Parade.

The road closure will be in place to allow residents and families to safely gather at the Nakasuk parking lot and take part in the community events and celebrations.

The road closure will be in effect from 12:00PM to 4:00PM and will affect Queen Elizabeth Way, from Mattaq Crescent to Sinna Street. A map highlighting the closure is included below.

Residents, drivers, and pedestrians are asked to use caution in the area, follow posted signage, and allow extra time when travelling. Short delays can be expected.

The City invites residents to take part in the Canada Day activities throughout the day and to come together after the parade at the Nakasuk parking lot to enjoy the celebrations safely and respectfully. We thank the community for its patience, cooperation, and community spirit.
