Waterways cleanup event
The Qikiqtani Inuit Association and the City of Iqaluit are collaborating to inspire community members and businesses to keep our waterways clean. Iqaluit’s waterways, creeks, rivers, ocean, and beachfront areas are important to the overall health, safety and well-being of our community.
The annual waterways cleanup event takes place this year on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Staff and supplies will be located behind the Elders Qammaq at building #226.
This initiative will focus on the shore from the Coast Guard Beach to the Graveyard; Geraldine Creek from the Hospital to Frobisher Bay (Grind and Brew); Carny Creek from Upper Base Road to the Co-op Gas Bar; and nearby lakes.
There will be a prize draw and treats at 12 p.m. for participants of the event.
QIA and the City look forward to seeing residents and businesses out at this event.
