VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER RECRUITMENT INFORMATION SESSION

• Are you interested in helping your community?
• Are you looking to gain new skills and make new friends at the same time?
• Are you interested in being introduced to and trained in the fire service as a firefighter?

The Iqaluit Fire Department is recruiting dedicated individuals to join the department as volunteer firefighters!

What does it involve?

Volunteer firefighters are heavily relied on to compliment the full time staff at the fire hall in the event of a fire or large scale incident.

Volunteer firefighters will carry a pager and could be called out at anytime 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. These could be calls for a:

• Structure fire
• Motor vehicle collision
• Natural disaster

Or any number of various emergencies that happen in the city and require a response from the fire department

Volunteer firefighters will undergo extensive training (weekly training nights) so they are prepared to respond to and work at emergency scenes. This training will continue after the recruit period to stay sharp on the skills and continue to learn new skills.

If you are interested, come out to the Iqaluit Fire Department’s volunteer information session on May 3 at 7:00 pm.
