Vaccine Mandate & Mask Wearing in Municipal Buildings
April 28, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

• Proof of vaccination is no longer required for the public to enter municipal facilities.
• Wearing of a face covering (e.g. mask) is required in all public spaces, within municipal facilities, for guests ages 2 and older.

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents of two motions carried by the Iqaluit City Council at the City Council Meeting #11 on Tuesday, April 26th.

By-Law 931 Access to Council Chambers Council Committee Meetings and Municipal Buildings During the Covid-19 Pandemic has been repealed. This means that proof of vaccination is no longer required for the public to enter municipal facilities.

By-Law 937 Temporary Face Covering By-Law has been enacted. This means that the wearing of a face covering is required in all public spaces, within municipal facilities, for guests ages 2 and older.

A person is not required to wear a face covering in recreation facilities while engaged in the playing/program area. The playing/program area includes: the pool deck, the fitness centre, the ice/turf surface and the benches. Face coverings are required in all recreation facility public spaces (except changing room showers) including changing/dressing rooms, hallways, and other public spaces.

Use of face coverings in the municipal buildings is to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The City would like to thank residents for their ongoing collaboration to adhere to these guidelines.
