Temporary Closure of Metal Disposal Area at Landfill

September 29, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

 

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that the metal dump will be closed on Wednesday, September 30, to allow Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) crews to safely complete repairs to powerlines near the site.

The repairs are required after a City dump truck accidentally struck a powerline near the metal dump.

The metal dump will remain closed for the day to provide QEC crews with the space needed to safely complete the repairs. Residents who were planning to use the metal dump on Wednesday are asked to postpone their visit until the site reopens.

The City appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while this work is completed and thanks QEC crews for their assistance.

The metal dump will reopen Thursday, October 1.
