Temporary Closure of Metal Disposal Area at Landfill

August 18, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

 

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that the metal disposal area at the landfill is temporarily closed until further notice to allow for scrap metal removal operations.

Regular waste disposal at the landfill will remain open and operate as usual.

Heavy equipment and trucks will be operating in and around the metal disposal area. For everyone’s safety, residents are asked not to enter or use the metal disposal area while this work is underway.

The City of Iqaluit thanks residents for their patience, understanding, and cooperation while this work is completed.

A further notice will be issued when the metal disposal area reopens.
