Successful Hazardous Waste Collection
November 14, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit Sanitation Team wishes to thank residents for their full participation in their hazardous waste collection program.

Between May and October 2023, Iqaluit residents attended five different household hazardous waste days, where they could drop off dangerous items and divert them from the landfill.

Over that time, 81 automotive batteries, 141 5L pails of paint, 44L of oil and 46 aerosol cans were collected.

Every item diverted from the landfill in this process is one more item that we will not have to deal with in the future. The City thanks residents for doing their part to help keep Iqaluit clean, for now and in the future.
