Show and Shine Community Event
August 8, 2025 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit is excited to invite residents to the third annual Show & Shine, taking place on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the new Operations Centre (Building 1549).

This year’s event marks a special milestone, as it will also serve as the official unveiling of the new Operations Centre. Residents are encouraged to come explore the facility, learn more about its role in supporting essential city services, and meet the dedicated staff who keep Iqaluit running.

The family friendly Show & Shine event will feature a display of heavy equipment used by city departments, including loaders, graders, excavators and trucks. City staff from Public Works, the Iqaluit Fire Department, and Recreation will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate how this equipment is used in daily operations.

Caribou Cabs is proudly sponsoring the event, and a limited number of cab vouchers will be available for residents with limited access to transportation. Vouchers can be picked up at the event and used for rides to or from the venue. They will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Hot dogs and light refreshments will be available on site for residents to enjoy.

Job application opportunities within participating departments will also be available.

Safety Reminder: Children must be supervised at all times. Please do not climb on any equipment unless an operator is present and has given permission.

The event will proceed rain or shine. In case of poor weather, activities will move indoors at the Operations Centre.
