Short-Term Lease Areas Available for Construction Material Storage
August 15, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

There is currently a lack of industrial land available for construction material storage. The City is working on a subdivision plan to provide industrial lots in the West 40 area for long term lease,
however, these lots will not be available until later next year. To ensure there is storage space for construction materials arriving at the port, the City is working with the GN Department of Economic Development & Transportation (GN-ED&T) to open a strip of Commissioners Land along Akilliq Drive past the tank farm for short-term leases.

Each short-term lease area is roughly 1,800 m2 in size. The only use that will be allowed on these areas shall be the short-term storage of construction materials. All materials would need
to be removed from the site by the end of the lease term of November 30, 2025.

Parties interested in entering a short-term lease with ED&T for this area are asked to contact the City Planning and Development Department by submitting an e-mail to planning@iqaluit.ca.
The City will identify interested and eligible parties to GN-ED&T. Each party will be limited to one area.
