REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR OF STREET BOLLARDS
May 7, 2020 (Iqaluit, Nunavut) - The City of Iqaluit is advising residents that work is underway in the downtown core to replace and repair street bollards. Street bollards are an important part of the downtown core as they create protective perimeters in high traffic areas with mixed use public spaces. They create a protective perimeter, separating walkways from parking areas and prevent unauthorized parking.
The City will be replacing broken wooden bollards with high quality, recycled, composite plastic bollards. The new street bollards are taller and with reflective markers for increased visibility. They are more durable and will help define roadways and walkways to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles traveling in the downtown core.
The work will start on Saturday, May 10 and is expected to continue throughout the week.
Please use CAUTION while driving, walking or cycling in areas where drilling equipment is being used to complete this work.
