Info For Public Meeting

Prior to our public information sessions about our water supply expansion plans – June 7th at Abe Okpik Hall in Apex and June 9th at the Elders Qammaq in Iqaluit, 4pm to 6 pm- the City of Iqaluit would like to share some information that outlines options for the proposed work.

There are three main goals for the Long term Water program:

1 - Replace and modernize the piped infrastructure sections that are susceptible to leaks and breaks.

2 - Develop a new long-term water source and supporting infrastructure to meet the current and projected water needs of the City, ensuring economic growth is supported by the water supply system.

3 - Construct a new reservoir to ensure adequate year-round water storage is available to meet the current and projected needs of the City.

The Long-Term Water project is funded by the Federal government under the Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund (DMAF) program. The approved budget for the project is $214,070,600.

This information and more will be available to the public at the information sessions. Interpreters will be on site, as well as some of the people behind the proposals. Come out to the sessions, have your questions answered, and have your opinion heard. Light refreshments will be served.
