Public Notice – Disposal of Surplus City Assets

August 25, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

 

The City of Iqaluit is inviting sealed bids for the purchase of surplus City assets that are no longer required for municipal operations.

All items are being sold as is, where is. Interested bidders are encouraged to view the items during the scheduled viewing period before submitting a bid.

A list of the lots available for sale can be found below.

VIEWING THE ASSETS

Interested bidders may view the assets during the following period:

Dates: August 25 to September 8, 2026
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Location: Firefighting Training Grounds, across from the landfill

Photographs of the assets are provided for reference (scan QR code)

SUBMITTING A BID

Bidders may submit bids on one or more of the lots listed below using a single bid form.

Completed bid forms must be submitted in a sealed envelope and received no later than:

Deadline: September 11, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. local time
Submission Location: City Hall, 1085 Mivvik Street

 

 

The bid form must include:

• The bidder’s name and contact information;
• The lot number(s) being bid on;
• The bid amount for each lot; and
• A deposit equal to at least 10% of the total value of all bids submitted on the form.

Bidders may bid on as many or as few lots as they choose using the same form.

Each sealed envelope must be clearly marked:

Deposits and payments must be made payable to the City of Iqaluit by cash, certified cheque or money order.

CONDITIONS OF SALE

All assets are being sold as is, where is, with no stated or implied warranties regarding their condition, operation or suitability for use.

All assets will require towing and/or lifting for removal. Successful purchasers are responsible for arranging and paying for all equipment, labour, transportation and other costs required to remove their purchased asset from City property.

Successful bidders must pay the remaining balance of their bid in full within seven days of being notified of the award. Items may not be removed or taken into possession until payment has been received in full.

All purchased items must be removed from City property no later than September 18, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. local time.

Failure to meet the conditions of sale, including payment or removal requirements, may result in the purchaser forfeiting their deposit and the right to purchase the asset.

The City of Iqaluit is not bound to accept the highest or any bid.
