Parking on Roadway Prohibited
November 13, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit reminds residents that under the Nunavut Traffic Safety Act and City of Iqaluit By-Law 625 (Traffic, Parking, and Walkways By-law), parking on roadways is prohibited unless authorized by posted traffic signage. Vehicles parked in violation of this rule are subject to a fine of up to $75.00, and may also be towed at the owner’s expense.

Parking on roadways creates safety hazards by obstructing visibility at intersections and making it difficult for vehicles to navigate safely in oncoming lanes. In addition, parked vehicles impede snow clearing and road maintenance operations, which are essential for keeping our streets accessible and safe.

The City appreciates the community’s cooperation in adhering to these regulations and thanks residents for their understanding and support.
