NEW IQALUIT CITY COUNCIL OFFICIALLY SWORN IN
November 6, 2019 (Iqaluit, Nunavut) – Members of the new Iqaluit City Council were officially sworn in at the Nunavut Court of Justice for the 2019-2023 term. The Members of the Iqaluit City Council are:

Councillor Janet Brewster
Councillor Joanasie Akumalik
Councillor Solomon Awa
Councillor Stevenson
Councillor Sheila Flaherty
Councillor Kyle Sheppard
Councillor Simon Nattaq
Councillor Malaiya Lucassie
Justice of the Peace, Lucy Wilson, presided over the swearing-in ceremony where council members recited their Oaths of Office. Following the ceremony, council members along with family and friends attended a small reception at the Aquatic Centre.
“I am very honoured and humbled by the support of the Iqaluit voters. I congratulate the new council and I look forward to getting to work with council for City staff and Iqaluimmuit, “said Mayor Bell.
Councillor Sheila Flaherty, who was unable to attend the meeting, will take her official oath of office at the November 21st Council meeting.
