Mayor Bell Resigns from City Council
October 18, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that Mayor Kenny Bell tendered his resignation from Iqaluit’s City Council, effective immediately.

Bell was elected to city council in 2012, serving as a councillor until 2015. In 2019, he was elected as the Mayor of Iqaluit. Mayor Bell passionately served the community during his tenure as city councillor and mayor. Is not a small thing to step up and represent your community in this capacity, and the Municipality thanks Kenny for his years of service.

Deputy Mayor, Solomon Awa, will serve as Mayor and Councillor Sheppard will serve as Deputy Mayor until Council determines or until the next municipal election scheduled for fall of 2023.
