Landfill Temporarily Not Accepting Scrap Metal
June 8, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that due to potential safety hazards, the scrap metal site at the landfill will be closed to the general public from June 15, 2023 to July 13, 2023. This is to allow for metal crushing activities to be performed.
During this time, the landfill will not accept any scrap metal, appliances or end of life vehicles. As increased heavy equipment can be expected in the area, residents are advised to drive with caution near the landfill.
The landfill scrap metal will reopen for public drop-off on July 14, 2023. There will be a second closure in August and/or September. We will advise the public before that closure.
The City of Iqaluit thanks residents for their corporation to ensure everyone’s safety.
