Iqaluit Emergency Services Responds to House Fire

On Monday, January 24, 2022 at approximately 3:00AM, Iqaluit Emergency Services responded to a report of smoke coming from a row house in the 2200 area of town.

Firefighters arrived at the location and quickly contained the fire to the unit of origin.

The resulting fire and water damage was limited to only one unit however, two neighbouring occupants and their pet were displaced for the duration of the firefighting operation for their safety. Once the fire was extinguished, and the Iqaluit Fire Department deemed the property safe, both occupants were allowed back into their residence.

Two firetrucks, two ambulance, two support vehicles and nine firefighters responded to this incident with no injuries to the public or the staff at Iqaluit Emergency Services. The City of Iqaluit would also like to thank the Iqaluit RCMP for their assistance at this incident.
