Icebreaking Efforts by Canadian Coast Guard - Update
December 05, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that the CCGS Henry Larsen will continue to conduct ice-breaking operations near Iqaluit and Resolution Island and within Frobisher Bay this week. This is to allow a safe escort of the Kitikmeot W. and Qikiqtaaluk W. into Iqaluit’s Harbour.

The CCGS Henry Larsen will also continue to provide ice-breaking efforts to both of these vessels as required in the vicinity of Iqaluit and Frobisher Bay until the vessels depart from the area between December 2-10, 2022.

The icebreaker will be leaving an open water track during this time and residents should use caution when travelling in the bay.

Residents are asked to contact the Coast Guard at the below contact if you have any questions, concerns or want to advise of any activity in the area.
