Hydrant Flushing

October 4, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

 

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that Public Works crews will be conducting hydrant flushing throughout Iqaluit from October 4 to 11, 2026.

Residents may see crews operating hydrants in different areas of the city. During this work, residents may experience temporary water discoloration, including yellow-coloured water, as well as short-term reductions in water pressure. These impacts are expected to be brief and are a normal part of the flushing process.

If water discoloration occurs, residents are advised to run their cold water taps until the water clears and to avoid doing laundry until the water has returned to normal.

This work does not require a precautionary boil water advisory.

Residents experiencing prolonged water discoloration or loss of water pressure are encouraged to contact Public Works at 867-979-5630.

The City thanks residents for their patience and understanding while this important maintenance work is completed.
