Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Event
July 7, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit’s annual Household Hazardous Waste drop-off program is here to help residents safely dispose of items that should not go in regular garbage.
This is for the cleaners, chemicals, electronics and “I’ll handle that later” items that have somehow survived every cleaning spree so far.
Good news. Later is now on the calendar.
The drop-off day will be held:
Date: Saturday, July 11
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Location: Happy Valley between House 411 and House 413
Accepted household items include, but are not limited to:
Anti-freeze, adhesives, aerosols, automotive and household batteries, cleaners, corrosives, fuels, mercury, oxidizers, poisons, paint cans and spray paint, pharmaceuticals, solvents, and electronic waste.
Items not accepted include:
Used oil, oil filters, oil containers, tires, propane tanks, biological waste, infectious waste, radioactive waste, explosives, ammunition, and industrial waste.
Residents are asked to keep labels on any materials they bring for disposal. Labels help identify the materials, support proper disposal, and reduce the need to test unknown substances.
We thank residents for helping keep Iqaluit clean, safe, and slightly less full of mystery containers.
