Ground Survey for Climate Hazard Mapping
September 11, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that Tetra Tech Canada Inc. will be conducting a geotechnical investigation program in Iqaluit from Monday, September 14 to Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
The work is being completed in support of city-wide climate hazard mapping and will help improve understanding of subsurface and permafrost conditions across the city.
Tetra Tech and its subcontractors will use portable drilling equipment and an excavator to create boreholes and test pits. All investigation areas will be backfilled once the work is complete.
Residents may see drilling or excavation work in public areas and near roadways for short periods and may hear noise from the equipment.
For safety, residents are asked to remain at least 10 metres away from investigation work and equipment.
A drone survey will also be conducted approximately two kilometres east of the city as part of the program. Nearby residents may hear the drone while it is in flight.
The City thanks residents for their cooperation during this work.
