Emergency Preparedness Week - 72 Hour Emergency Preparedness
May 5, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The week of May 1 – 7, 2022 is the National Emergency Preparedness Week.
The City of Iqaluit encourages residences to practice emergency preparedness.
The Government of Canada recommends that Canadians are always prepared to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours. This includes having an adequate supply of water (bottled and/or filled buckets) and food, to carry your household through a period 72 hours, in the event of an unexpected emergency (such as a blizzard, the loss of power, etc.).
For more information on emergency preparedness, residents can visit The Government of Canada “Get Prepared” webpage (https://www.getprepared.gc.ca/cnt/kts/index-en.aspx).
