Community Cleanup 2025

June 10, 2025 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit, in partnership with the Government of Nunavut, is pleased to announce the annual Community Cleanup will take place on Friday, June 13, 2025.

This annual event marks the transition from spring to summer and brings together residents, organizations, and businesses in a shared effort to keep Iqaluit clean and vibrant. Each year, the cleanup plays an important role in protecting local wildlife, reducing waste, and improving the quality of our public spaces.

Event Details:
Date: Friday, June 13, 2025
Cleanup Location: Anywhere in Iqaluit
Supply Pickup: Unnikkarvik Visitor Centre / Library Building
BBQ: 11:45 AM to 1:15 PM (open to all cleanup participants)
Prize Draws: 1:30 PM (open to all cleanup participants)

Alternative Date in Case of Inclement Weather:
In the event of poor weather, the cleanup will be postponed to Friday, June 20, 2025.
A notice will be posted by the City the day before, or the morning of, cleanup day if the event is being rescheduled.

Cleanup kits, including gloves, garbage bags, and safety instructions, will be available at the Unnikkarvik Visitor Centre. Residents may clean in any part of the city.

If you are participating outside of the scheduled date or time, please call the City to let us know where your garbage bags are located. Ensure they are placed close to the road or in clearly accessible locations, so staff can safely collect them.

We encourage residents, businesses, and community groups to participate. Whether it is cleaning around your home, your workplace, or a nearby public area, every contribution counts.

All cleanup participants are invited to enjoy a community BBQ and take part in our prize draws as a thank you for helping keep Iqaluit clean and beautiful.

Please remember to dress for the weather, use caution when handling waste, and supervise children during cleanup activities.
