Canada Day Celebrations
June 27, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents of this year’s Canada Day events on Friday, July 1, 2022:

• 9:00 am to 10:30 am: Free Pancake Breakfast at the AWG Arena (limited to one plate per person).
• 10:00 am to 11:00 am: A Kids Bike Decorating Contest will take place at the AWG Arena parking lot. Participants will have an opportunity to show off their creations and get a chance to win a prize.
• 12:00 pm: The annual July 1st Parade will start at the AWG Arena at 12pm and finish at Nakasuk School at approximately 1pm. For those interested in registering a float for the Parade please contact Billy Andersen at 979-5620 or b.andersen@iqaluit.ca by

Wednesday, June 29th. Float prizes will be awarded.
• 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm: A July 1st concert will be held at the Nakasuk Field. During the Concert there will be a Civic Ceremony starting at 1:25pm. For those interested in completing a reaffirmation of citizenship may get the opportunity to do so at 2:30pm during a break in the concert.
• 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm: The Recreation Department will be conducting Surprise Country Food Popup giveaways around town from 1pm to 4pm or until supplies last.
• 1:15pm until supplies last: The Iqaluit Fire Department will be handing out warm chili at the Iqaluit Square.

• 9:00 am until finished: The Jimmy Kilabuk Run. There is a $25 entry fee to enter a race. All funds will be donated to the Jimmy Kilabuk Foundation. The half marathon starts at 9am, the 10KM and 5KM runs both start at 11:30am. The entry deadline is June 30th. Activenet account creation and registration can be found here:
