Baseball Field Closure for Turf Installation
July 30, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit is pleased to let residents know that work on the baseball field will begin soon.
Starting Monday, August 3 at 8:00 a.m., the baseball field will be closed to the public while crews prepare the site and complete groundwork for the new artificial turf. Turf installation is expected to begin later that week.
The project is expected to be finished, and the field reopened, on Monday, August 10.
Residents are asked to avoid using the field while work is underway. Entering the work area could delay the project and affect the planned reopening date.
We know it is never fun to have the field closed, even for a short time, but these improvements will give players and families a better space to enjoy for years to come.
The City would like to thank Nunavut Sealink and Supply Inc. (NSSI) for generously donating the sealift freight for this project. Their support helped bring the turf materials to Iqaluit and contributed to an improved recreation space for the community.
We appreciate residents’ patience and cooperation. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the field soon!
