October 13, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to let residents know that the AWG Arena will open for the 2026–2027 ice season on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

The turf is out, the ice is in, and staff are putting the finishing touches on the arena ahead of opening day.

Residents can look forward to another season of skating, hockey and community programming at the AWG Arena.

With the ice season getting underway, the City is excited to welcome residents back to the rink and see the arena busy again throughout the fall and winter.

Information on upcoming programs and skating opportunities will be shared as it becomes available.

It is almost time to lace up the skates and get back on the ice.

The City looks forward to welcoming everyone back for another season at the AWG Arena.
