Student Planner
Under the direction of the Director of Planning and Development, the incumbent is responsible for assisting with the administration and operation of land use planning carried out by the City of Iqaluit. They will review Development Permit and Variance Request applications and conduct research and analysis of community planning issues. They will assist the Director of Planning and Development with major projects, including planning Iqaluit’s next subdivision. They must be registered as a full time university student in Urban Planning, Urban Studies or in a related field.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- University student in Urban Planning, Urban Studies or related field.
- Strong communication skills, including public consultation and facilitation skills.
- Previous administrative work experience in Municipal, Territorial or Federal Government issues is an asset.
- Knowledge of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement and Northern issues is an asset.
- Familiarity with computer software including Geographic Information Systems, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office is an asset.
The ability to speak Inuktitut and French is a definite asset.
