City of Iqaluit Office Closure – September 30, 2021

The City of Iqaluit is acknowledging the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by closing its City offices and public buildings on Thursday, September 30, 2021 to allow residents and staff time for reflection on this significant day.

Trucked-services, garbage service as well as recreation services will be limited. Please be advised of the following alternate schedules for each service:

Water and Sewer Truck Services
Sunday, September 26, 2021 – Regular service
Monday, September 27, 2021 – Regular service
Tuesday, September 28, 2021 – Regular service
Wednesday, September 29, 2021 – Regular service
Thursday, September 30, 2021 – OFF
Friday, October 01, 2021 – 6 a.m. start until complete

Residential Garbage Service
Monday, September 27, 2021 – Regular Garbage Service
Tuesday, September 28, 2021 – Regular Garbage Service
Wednesday, September 29, 2021 – Regular Garbage Service
Thursday, September 30, 2021 – OFF
Friday, October 01, 2021- Regular Garbage Service + Thursday’s Route

Residents requesting water delivery may call the City’s dispatch service at 979-5650, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A service charge of $350 is applied for emergency delivery.

Recreation Facilities
The Makkuttukkuvik Youth Centre, Elder’s Qammaq, Arctic Winter Games Arena and Arnaitok Arena will be closed on September 30, 2021.
The Aquatic Centre will have holiday hours on September 30th. The Aquatic Centre will be open from 12:00PM – 4:00PM.

Solo workouts session availability:
12:00PM – 1:00PM
1:30PM – 2:30PM
3:00PM – 4:00PM

Aquatics session availability:
12:00PM – 1:00PM – Family Swim (Leisure Pool)
1:30PM – 2:30PM Adult Lane Swim
3:00PM – 4:00PM Public Swim (Lap Pool)
