COVID-19 and City of Iqaluit Update
November 20, 2020 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit continues to work closely with the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Health to monitor and respond as needed to the COVID-19 situation.
Recreation Facilities
The Elders Qammaq, Makkuttukkuvik Youth Centre, AWG and curling rink are closed until further notice. All city-run playgrounds are closed to the public.

Aquatic Centre
The Iqaluit Aquatic Centre is closed to the public.

City Services
All city facilities and workplaces are closed to the with non-essential city staff working from home.
Residents and businesses are to conduct business and make payments online or by phone.
For assistance with payments, please contact the City Finance Department at accountsreceivable@Iqaluit.ca or 979-5609 and P.VanStrien@iqaluit.ca or 979-5665 for billing inquiries on water and garbage utilities.
The City of Iqaluit continues to provide essential services including water and sewer delivery, garbage pick up and municipal enforcement, fire, ambulance, and dispatch emergency services.
Taxi related services such as Taxi Vehicle Permitting or any Taxi Driver Permits are temporarily on hold.
