Local Business Operation

March 26, 2020 (Iqaluit, Nunavut) – The City of Iqaluit’s first priority is its staff and residents.

The City of Iqaluit continues to work closely with the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Health to monitor and respond as needed to the COVID-19 situation.

The City of Iqaluit would like to notify the public of businesses that have altered business hours or operations in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of Wednesday March 17, 2020, the Nunavut Government has declared a Public Health Emergency. This means that all bars, restaurant dining rooms, schools and daycares are closed. They will not be included on this list.

If your business or entity has altered business hours or operational schedules and would like to be added to this list, please contact Geoff Byrne, Economic Development Officer at g.byrne@iqaluit.ca

All businesses are strongly encouraged to participate in these reasonable precautions:
 Practise enhanced cleaning measures with a focus on disinfecting high-touch point surfaces;
 Promote frequent and thorough hand-washing, use hand sanitizers or anti-bacterial wipes if soap and water is not available;
 Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth;
 Delay or cancel face to face meetings, replace it with a teleconference or online event;
