City Council Appoints New Councillor

June 24, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit is pleased to inform residents that City Council has appointed Kuthula Matshazi to fill the vacant Council seat.

The appointment was made during City Council Meeting #08 on June 23, following Council’s review of the submitted application packages.

The City congratulates Kuthula Matshazi and welcomes them to City Council. Kuthula Matshazi will be sworn in ahead of the July 28 City Council Meeting and will serve for the remainder of the Council term.

The City also extends its sincere thanks to all applicants who put their names forward. Their interest in serving Iqaluit reflects a strong commitment to the community.
