Commissioner’s Awards

The City of Iqaluit is pleased to congratulate the many Iqalummiut who were honoured with 2023 Commissioners Awards by Nunavut Commissioner Eva Aariak. In particular, we want to show gratitude to our staff and elected officials who were honoured for their service to the community.

Iqaluit Mayor Solomon Awa has recognized for his work with the Canadian Rangers and Iqaluit Search and Rescue. Both groups received plaques of appreciation from Commissioner Aariak for the valuable role they play in keeping us all safe.

Also recognized were the staff and volunteers of the Iqaluit Fire Department. Deputy Chief Adam Hawryliw was on hand to receive a plaque of appreciation for their work on behalf of the community.

These groups help Iqalummiut on a daily basis, and we join Commissioner Aariak in extending our gratitude to them.
