PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

REMINDER: Parking on a roadway is prohibited

DECEMBER 27, 2019 (IQALUIT, NUNAVUT) The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents that as per the Nunavut Traffic Safety Act, as well as City of Iqaluit By-Law 625 the Traffic, Parking and Walkways By-law, its is prohibited to park a vehicle on any roadway unless there is traffic signage authorizing parking on a roadway.

Vehicles in contravention are subject to a fine of up to $50.00 and the vehicle may be towed at the owner’s expense.

Parking on a roadway makes it dangerous for vehicles trying to pass in oncoming lanes, or see around the parked vehicles at intersections, as well as vehicles parked on roadways impede snow clearing and road maintenance operations.

The City would like to thank residents for their support and understanding.
