Community Cleanup Thank You!
June 20, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit, in collaboration with the Government of Nunavut Environment, the Government of Nunavut Economic Development and Transportation, the World Wildlife Foundation, and Pinnguaq Association, extends heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who participated in this year’s community cleanup. Thanks to your dedication, we distributed over 1300 bags of garbage for collection, making our community noticeably cleaner and more beautiful.
Clean communities are essential for the health and well-being of residents. They provide safer environments, reduce pollution, and foster community pride. To maintain the cleanliness and beauty of our community, we encourage everyone to:
• Properly dispose of waste.
• Participate in local cleanup events.
• Educate others about the importance of keeping our environment clean.
We would also like to extend our gratitude to our supporters:
• C&K Services for providing cleanup supplies.
• Innirvik Support Services for audio equipment.
• Arctic Ventures Marketplace, NorthMart, Qikiqtani Inuit Association, World Wildlife Foundation, Uqsuq Corporation, and Canadian North for donating prizes.
Congratulations to our grand prize winner, Lazarus Awa, who won a return trip from Iqaluit to Ottawa courtesy of Canadian North!
